Pearl Spotlight: Jill Faulkner

October 17, 2018

I am a woman of substance, ever evolving and exploring my purpose on this planet. I stand for an empowering relationship with ourselves. Of all the relationships we have throughout our lives, the most important one is the relationship we have with ourselves.

Next up in our Pearl Spotlight series is one of our Pearl Partners—Jill Faulkner, owner of Stick With It Co. Get to know her a little better with gorgeous photos by Jessica Santiesteban of Ideology Photography.

How do you define community and connection?

To me, a community comes together for a common goal. Whether that is to attain something together, or to just be together in each other’s company. Community is a group of people, in that group, for the same reason and intention. And, for me, connection looks like a real conversation getting at the heart of what our lives are all about.

How has being a member of the Whiskey & Pearls community impacted your life?

Oh, wow. Whiskey & Pearls has given me so much! Wonderful friends, and an incredible group of supportive women, who are truly invested in each other’s well being. These women have wonderful hearts, open minds, and a collaborative spirit that I’ve never seen before. I’ve had business opportunities come out of my membership and involvement in W&P, and it blows me away. I am so grateful for Courtney, and for these women.

Tell us more and you, what you do, and what you’re passionate about!

I am a daughter, sister, friend, confidant, dog mom, occasional (and not great) pianist, occasional (and hilarious) comedian, and it’s also taken me more than 2 months to complete a 1,000 piece puzzle. What I do is make people smile and laugh, tell inappropriate jokes, love on my dog, Story, listen, love, and wonder with awe. In the conventional sense of “what do you do”, I am the founder of Stick With It Co., which is in the business of helping focus on the relationship they have with themselves utilizing pre-printed affirmations on sticky-notes as a tool, as well as workshops and talks to support introducing people to themselves. I am passionate about self-work — growth, improvement, and our relationship with ourselves.

While your company sells a product (affirmation sticky notes), it’s so much more than that. Can you tell us a little more about what you hope to achieve through this work?

Stick With It Co. exists so that people could begin, or continue, a loving relationship with themselves. Our mission is for people to wholly, unabashedly, and guiltlessly love themselves. Using affirmations on sticky-notes as a tool worked for me — to get through a lot of muck that was holding me back from loving myself, and being with myself in a way that I didn’t desire to be anything or anyone else anymore. I thought if this simple tool could transform my life in the way that it had, then maybe others could benefit, and if they didn’t know where to being, then we could help them get started.

My goal with Stick With It Co. is to spark a desire to work on the relationship with the self, and be a catalyst for internal change. I want people to live happy lives, and to know that they are worthy of joy, and love.

What has been the greatest advice you’ve received about running your own business that you have taken to heart and live by?

I know I wouldn’t be in this position without the support of others, but I’m drawing a blank on any specific advice that has stood out — it’s really all become part of my toolbox! I work with my higher power a lot to navigate business ownership (and life), and oddly enough, it has come down to sticking with it, and giving myself compassion and grace as I work to figure out things I don’t know.

Sometimes I think I screwed myself with naming my company Stick With It Co., but alas, I suppose destiny is playing itself out. I do receive a lot of words of encouragement and support, as well as product ideas, and great feedback from customers, friends, and whoever. Regardless of the advice, it’s in my relationship with myself where I find the courage to keep doing this. To know that if I don’t try, then what’s it all been for?

What do you love most about being a part of the Whiskey & Pearls community?

I have to pick one thing?! I love that W&P exists for the community it serves. For the women it upholds, encourages, and connects. I love the spirit of generosity and support.

If we get dreamy for a minute, what do you envision for Stick With It Co. in the future?

I’m not sure I ever leave dream state! Future Stick With It Co.’s products are in at least one store in every state (and perhaps we’re international!), and I am traveling to give workshops and talks to groups that can pay me, so that I can bring the product and support to the communities who can’t.

A FEW FINAL THOUGHTS FROM JILL

It was the most bizarre thing — to have felt so grateful for whatever life was like on November 4th that the only thing I could write in my journal was “thank you,” and then be fired the next day. Ultimately I knew, and trusted it was right — I had to. I wasn’t going to fight it, or force it. I also had to have my moment of concern, and documented that as well. I wouldn’t have been able to get through that, still loving myself, and trusting in the process, had I not been doing this vital work on my relationship with myself. If I hadn’t been let go, we wouldn’t have Stick With It Co., and that I can definitely say “thank you” for.
